The National Film, Photography & Sound Engineering School - dedicated to providing pre-professional training for the audiovisual industries.

ENS Louis-Lumière offers theoretical, practical, technical and artistic education and training for those wishing to go into the various branches of the audiovisual industry. Run under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, it offers a state-funded course at postgraduate level leading to a nationally-recognised Masters diploma

The school also conducts applied research in film and video, photography and sound.

Higher Education : the school wishes to remain at the forefront of professional concerns resulting from an ever-changing technological environment. Continuing Education : the school wishes to remain at the forefront of professional concerns resulting from an ever-changing technological environment. We offer training courses which combine theory and practice witha technical and creative approach, providing essential training and practical applications in the following areas : film, photography, sound HD/ digital video.

Founded in 1926, inspired by figures such as Louis Lumière and Léon Gaumont, the school was a pioneer in film and photography education.

ENS Louis-Lumière is now (September of 2012) located the Cité du Cinéma (on the St Denis plain, Carrefour Pleyel metro). This project offers exciting prospects, such as outlined below:

- Reinforcing links with professionals from the image and sound industries can only benefit students wishing to go into these industries on graduation. Furthermore, the education and training offered by the School will reach a wider base of prospective students and trainees. The School will benefit from being located in a dynamic professional environment, amidst film and audiovisual production companies already on site and those planning to move there.

- The City of Cinema site will allow the School to create synergies by bringing together education and training, applied research and industry within the heart of a new centre made up of neighbouring universities Paris VIII and Paris XIII, and further develop ongoing projects with Cap Digital, the French business cluster for digital content and services in the greater Paris region.
