The race for technological innovation allows us an increasingly simple access to communication. E-mails, instant messaging, mobile phones, social networks and smartphones have gradually replaced the old means of communication in favor of instantaneity. However, the dematerialization of communication has pushed humans to erase a part of their identity : the voice. While visual representation has become commonplace, being confronted with one’s own voice is somewhat rare. What if the question of identity could find an answer in art? By proposing Signature, an interactive installation, we have tried to make the spectator realize the importance of his voice in the constitution of his identity using the power of reflexion an artwork inspires, by definition. By comparing the photographic portrait and the human voice, by analyzing the different aspects that make up someone’s personality and by describing every path that leads us to Signature, we will try to answer the fundamental question of this Master’s thesis: why don’t I like my voice?
